Matt Monroe is a Vancouver artist and maker who creates large-scale, sculpture-based installations.

Matt received his BA in Political Science from Colorado College and, after working in furniture design in NYC, he received an MFA in sculpture from Cranbrook Academy of Art in Michigan.

Matt’s technical skill as a builder and fine craftsperson, combined with his artistic vision, result in whimsical pieces that evoke emotion through altered objects and contrived experiences. His works often illuminate something in the world around us either by activating it with unexpected motion or by creating it out of unexpected materials.

Matt has shown his art work in New York, Detroit, Buffalo, New Mexico, Colorado, Chicago, Los Angeles and Vancouver.

He currently lives in North Vancouver with his family and two dogs.
