For over two decades, artist Matt Monroe has challenged conventional perspectives through his work in sculpture, furniture design, and product creation. A graduate of Michigan's prestigious Cranbrook Academy of Art, where he earned his MFA in Sculpture, Matt’s work has been featured in exhibits across North America, including New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Detroit, Buffalo, New Mexico, Colorado, and Vancouver.
At the heart of Matt's practice lies a compelling exploration of the familiar made extraordinary. By transforming everyday objects and reimagining common experiences, he creates powerful, often whimsical, works that prompt viewers to question their relationships with the world around them.
His distinctive artistic voice is shaped by his expertise in building and design. Matt's large-scale outdoor sculptures—often incorporating wood, metal, and experimental materials—play with architectural forms and furniture archetypes to investigate themes of belonging, shared experience, and the meaning of home.
Matt currently lives in North Vancouver with his family and their two dogs.
